72 Raisins For That Donkey

Donkey Bomb!

IDF Detonates Donkey Suicide Bomber At Border

The Big Question: Will PETA protest HAMAS using animals as weapons, or will they curse Israel for blowing one up in self defense?

Hamas militants sent a donkey laden with explosives on a suicide mission in one of the most unconventional tactics yet seen in the fighting in Gaza, the Israeli army has said.

Troops said they were forced to open fire on the animal - blowing it up - as it approached their position in the southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border.

The Israeli army had received prior intelligence that militants were going to try to use animals to carry out attacks, according to a press release on the Israeli Defence Forces website.

Israeli military officials say Friday night’s incident was a variant of what they say is Hamas’ tactic of using “human shields” to carry out “terrorist” activity.

“They used this donkey as a human shield, or an animal shield, if you like,” said Major Arye Shalicar, an army spokesman. “Anything, an animal or an international building, that can help make use of innocent people or international [citizens], they will use it. We see it time and again.”

For all its unorthodox nature, it is not the first recorded use of donkeys and other animals in the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Several attempted donkey-assisted attacks were reported in the West Bank and Gaza during the second Palestinian intifada [uprising] of 2000-2005. Other incidents have been recorded in recent years, including one in 2009 when militants approached the Karni crossing between Gaza and Israel with horses carrying mines and explosives.

Soldiers in the field have reported “multiple incidents” of dogs trying to approach with explosives attached to them, according to the army.

Escalation In Israel

Rockets Rain Down In Jerusalem

Iron Dome Intercepts Several Over Tel Aviv

Hamas Firing At Least 1 Per Minute: 40 Fired In 20 Minutes

40,000 IDF Troops Called Up

Reports of rockets falling all over Israel, but no deaths yet

Breaking News: 10pm Jerusalem / 3pm East Coast USA

Amid barrage of rockets, Iron Dome makes 2nd interception over greater Tel Aviv

For second time on Tuesday evening, Gaza terrorists launch rocket at central Israel; air raid sirens sounds in Jerusalem, central Israel; Tel Aviv opens public bomb shelters; no injuries reported.

Israel came under a heavy barrage of rocket fire on Tuesday night, with code red sirens sounding off in central Israel, the Jerusalem area and as far North as Binyamina.

More than 40 rockets were fired into Israel in the biggest ever salvo of long-range fire from Gaza.

The Iron Dome rocket defense system intercepted a number of rockets and no significant injuries have been reported in the attack.

An Iron Dome battery intercepted a projectile over the greater Tel Aviv area for the second time on Tuesday evening.

Two loud thuds were heard by residents in downtown Jerusalem shortly after a rocket siren went off in the capital at approximately 10 p.m. Thousands of city residents promptly entered bomb shelters, while others remained outside and in area cafes.

According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld none of the rockets fired from Gaza landed directly in the city of Jerusalem, although two rockets likely landed just outside the city.

Air raid sirens were also activated in cities including Rishon Lezion, Bat Yam, Holon and Bnei Barak, but sirens were not sounded in Tel Aviv.

The Israel Air Force struck 50 targets in Gaza in past two hours as part of its ongoing Operation Protective Edge.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the Iron Dome rocket defense system intercepted a projectile near Tel Aviv over the city of Rishon Lezion, as air raid sirens sounded in central Israeli cities for the first time amid recent escalations.

No injuries or damage were reported in the attack, which marked a widening of the range of rocket fire the Gaza Strip.

Siren sounds in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem; 16 killed in IDF strikes in Gaza

Netanyahu: The operation in Gaza could take some time; U.S. condemns rocket fire toward Israel; five armed Palestinians shot dead after crossing border into Israel; Israeli government approves call-up of 40,000 reservists.

Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza militants early on Tuesday, dubbing the offensive “Operation Protective Edge.” More than 50 targets were hit in the offensive.

Meanwhile, rocket fire on Israel’s south continued. According to the IDF, eight projectiles were launched between 2 and 6 A.M.

Militants in Gaza fired more than 85 rockets toward Israel on Monday evening, with Hamas openly claiming responsibility for some of the launches for the first time since the current round of fighting began. The rockets hit several major cities in the south and, also for the first time in the current fighting, caused alarms to go off in central Israel and Jerusalem. The barrages lightly wounded two Israelis and caused property damage.

The Israel Defense Forces called up 1,500 infantry and Border Police reservists in preparation for further escalation, after the security cabinet decided on Monday afternoon to intensify attacks against Hamas and other terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip. A senior official said the ministers want to refrain from a large-scale military operation for now, but they instructed the army to prepare for significant expansion of its current operations.

Palestinian officials said Gaza was bracing for further Israeli attacks. They said Hamas had evacuated likely targets and its leaders had gone underground lest Israel attempt to assassinate them. Hamas also issued a statement on Monday night demanding that the Palestinian Authority take action against Israel, saying “national unity sometimes requires paying a price.”

Israeli television reported Tuesday that a rocket aimed at Tel Aviv was intercepted by its “Iron Dome” defense system after the country carried out airstrikes on at least 100 sites in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip as part of a new offensive aimed at halting rocket attacks by militants.

The apparent rocket attack would be the deepest strike by Palestinian militants since Israel launched an offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Air raid sirens went off in the city, which is Israel’s commercial capital and about 45 miles north of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military didn’t immediately confirm the report, but an explosion was heard shortly afterward.

The earlier strikes prompted President Obama to urge both sides to exercise restraint.

But the Israeli military said the strikes would help “retrieve stability to the residents of southern Israel, eliminate Hamas’ capabilities and destroy terror infrastructure operating against the State of Israel and its civilians.”

The airstrikes resulted in five Palestinian deaths and over a dozen injured, Gaza’s Health Ministry said.

“We have repeatedly warned Hamas that this must stop and Israel’s defense forces are currently acting to put an end of this once and for all,” said Mark Regev, a spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli military said “Operation Protective Edge” looks to strike the Islamic Hamas group and end the rocket fire that has reached deeper into Israel and intensified in recent weeks.

The attacks come as tensions have soared over the killing of three Israeli teenagers and the apparent revenge killing of a Palestinian teenager by three Jewish suspects.

Nearly 300 rockets and mortars have been fired at Israel in recent weeks, including a barrage of close to 100 projectiles on Monday alone, the military said, a huge surge after years of relative quiet that followed a previous Israeli campaign to root out Gaza rocket launchers.

Israel had signaled that it would not launch a larger offensive if the militant group Hamas ceased the rocket fire. But the same time Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the military to prepare options for every scenario.

Naturally, our Godking pResident Obama has high praise for Hamas, but none for Israel.

President Barack Obama offered strong praise for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in an opinion piece published Tuesday in an Israeli newspaper, but had little to say about the other key player in the crisis, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In President Abbas, Israel has a counterpart committed to a two-state solution and security cooperation with Israel,” Obama wrote in the daily Haaretz. The president offered no parallel praise for Netanyahu, who is only mentioned by name once in the piece.

Obama’s comments, published in Hebrew, Arabic and English, were his first public comments on Middle Eastern affairs since the murder of three Israeli teenagers last month touched off a new round of regional violence and deepening mistrust.

This is going to get much worse before it gets any better.

Have No Fear, Ayatollah’s Here

Iranian Forces Fight Back ISIS In Tikrit.

Two foxes brawling in the henhouse?

Two maggots fighting in dead Ernest?

Iran has deployed Revolutionary Guard forces to fight al Qaeda-inspired militants that have overrun a string of Iraqi cities, and it has helped Iraqi troops win back control of most of Tikrit, Iranian security sources said.

Two battalions of the Quds Forces, the elite overseas branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps that have long operated in Iraq, have come to the aid of the besieged, Shiite-dominated government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, they said.

Combined Iraqi-Iranian forces had retaken control across 85% of Tikrit, the birthplace of former dictator Saddam Hussein, according to Iraqi and Iranian security sources.

In a stunning development that threatens to further destabilize the Middle East, Iran has deployed an elite unit of its Revolutionary Guard to help the Iraqi government take on ISIS, the al-Qaida offshoot that has seized several areas in the northern part of the country.

Two battalions of the Quds Forces are already making progress in their fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, the Wall Street Journal reported. The al-Qaida splinter group took control of Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit on Wednesday, but Revolutionary Guard and Iraqi troops overtook 85 percent of the city on Thursday, Iraqi and Iranian security forces told the paper.

Iran, which is dominated by Shiites, has close ties to Iraq’s Shiite-led government.  Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called ISIS “an extremist, terrorist group that is acting savagely” during an appearance on state television, Al Jazeera reported. “For our part, as the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran ... we will combat violence, extremism and terrorism in the region and the world.”

The Iranian military is considering shifting troops fighting in Syria, where forces are supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government, to Iraq if the deployment of the Quds Forces doesn’t make any progress in the latest offensive.

The Times of London said 150 members of the Quds Forces are in Iraq, where ISIS militants seized Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, earlier this week.

There’s a big difference between 150 troops, an elite unit, and 2 battalions worth. But still ... the Hero of the Day, Iraq version, sure ain’t Obama. It’s this guy:

DEFEAT In Iraq

Al Qaeda Takes Mosul

ISIS/ISIL Forces Poised To Overrun Baghdad

AQ ISIS Already Has Fallujah, Ramadi, Anbar Province and northern half of Iraq

Forming Islamist Jihad State With Syria??

image

Holy Shiite. Map from Debka Files.

Holy cat crap on a cracker! Where the hell did this come from? All I hear on the news is Bergdahl and the VA. We fought a damn war to secure this sandpit, at the cost of more than 4000 American lives and 10 times as many maimed and wounded. Why The FUCK isn’t this the only story on TV 24-7??

[ DEBKA Files, today ] Al Qaeda in Iraq (ISIS: Islamist State of Iraq and Syria), captured the northern Iraqi oil city of Mosul, capital of Nineveh Province, Tuesday, June 10, after the Iraqi military defenders caved in and fled. Mosul is Iraq’s third largest city after Baghdad and Basra with a population of around two million.

Ministers in Nuri al-Maliki’s government have sent> desperate appeals to the Obama administration for help to save Baghdad and Iraq from doom.

debkafile’s military sources report that the Iraqi army’s command facilities and bases in Mosul are ablaze and many bodies of Iraqi soldiers are lying in the town’s streets. Convoys of fleeing troops were ambushed by the invaders and destroyed.
The fall of Mosul with heavy casualties is the worst disaster suffered by the Iraqi army in its feeble attempts to fend off the deep inroads Al Qaeda has been making in the country for more than a year. ISIS now controls two major Iraqi cities, after capturing Fallujah earlier this year, has overrun parts of Ramadi and Tikrit, as well as eastern provinces bordering on Iran, Diyala province and parts of the town Baquba, where just Tuesday, 20 people were killed in two explosions.

Unknown number of casualties ... assume thousands. You don’t destroy “convoys” without a whole lot of bloodshed. Plus civilians. And any AQ fighters killed by accident.

[ PJ Tattler, today ] Iraq’s second-largest city fell to jihadists, a danger that had been building up but appeared to be low on Washington’s priority list.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, formerly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq, “infiltrated the old-city quarter of Meidan and have established a bridgehead close to the Old Bridge over the Tigris River that bisects the city into two halves,” according to the newspaper Azzaman.

“Government troops lack the necessary air support to take out the militants. Their assaults have failed so far to halt the push by ISIS… The districts and towns nearby report large-scale exodus, with thousands of displaced Mosul residents arriving in Zammar and the Kurdish city of Dahouk.”

Azzaman reports that Kurdish militias — the peshmerga — are on “high alert” to take a stand against the terrorists.

On Monday, Nineveh Governor Atheel al-Nujaifi made a televised plea to Mosul’s residents, calling on them to “stand firm in their areas and to defend them against the strangers,” according to the BBC.
...
Fallujah fell to al-Qaeda forces in January, sparking swift criticism on the Hill of the administration’s strategy in Iraq and subsequent pullout map in Afghanistan.

“Look, we’re following very closely reports of significant ISIL attacks, particularly in the city of Mosul. The security situation is, quite frankly, there still in flux. And the Iraqi security forces have undertaken operations to fight back against this; they remain ongoing. Obviously, I can’t go into all of the on-the-ground specifics,” Harf said Monday.

“We have worked with the Iraqis quite a bit to build their capacity and their capability to fight this threat,” she added. “ISIL has recently launched attacks on Anbar University in Ramadi, on the PUK in other places.

[ Hot Air, today ] Mosul falls to al-Qaeda as US-trained security forces flee
And not just Mosul, according to some reports, but the entire northern province of Nineveh has now fallen into al-Qaeda’s control.  Parliamentarians from the region want a declaration of emergency and immediate government intervention, but the forces that had been in Mosul have fled — some of which abandoned their uniforms as well as their posts as the ISIS forces swarmed into the city

Insurgents seized control early Tuesday of most of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, including the provincial government headquarters, offering a powerful demonstration of the mounting threat posed by extremists to Iraq’s teetering stability.

Fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, overran the entire western bank of the city overnight after Iraqi soldiers and police apparently fled their posts, in some instances discarding their uniforms as they sought to escape the advance of the militants.

Iraq’s speaker of parliament, Osama Nujaifi, said the city that ranks as the capital of northern Iraq is now entirely in insurgent hands.

“When the battle got tough in the city of Mosul, the troops dropped their weapons and abandoned their posts, making it an easy prey for the terrorists,” he told a televised news conference in Baghdad.
...
Iraqi Parliament speaker Usama al-Nujaifi said the terrorists are now setting their sight on Salahuddin, a province just north of Baghdad.

“They have already seized the Shergat air base in Salahuddin”, Nujaifi said, adding that terrorists laid their hands on weapon depots, heavy equipment and army helicopters from abandoned army bases in Mosul.
[Saving Baghdad ...] This will be almost impossible to do, and entirely impossible to do quickly. We pulled out all of our forces three years ago when the Obama administration failed to negotiate for a residual force for this exact scenario. In order to land an effective fighting force to defend Baghdad and retake Mosul, we would need to commit tens of thousands of troops and a large amount of materiel in a big hurry. Logistically speaking, that would be a feat worthy of George S. Patton and the Battle of the Bulge in order for us to get to Baghdad before ISIS does, especially with Iraqi security forces collapsing.

Politically speaking, it’s a dead letter. Obama just coughed up five prizes to the Taliban in his haste to get the US out of Afghanistan. Does Iraq really expect Obama to restart the Iraq War all over again after spending his entire national political career speaking out against it? Agreement or no, Obama almost certainly won’t send combat troops into Iraq, even if it’s to fight al-Qaeda, and very certainly not before the midterm elections.

The White House poo-pooed this AQ surge Monday , saying that reports were vastly overrated. At this point, the Iraq story is starting to hit US TV news. The battle for Mosul took about 5 days.

Pulling total defeat from the closed jaws of absolute victory. That’s Change you can Believe in.

more at BBC, et al
more at Washington Post, et al
more at the NY Times, et al
and of course, Atlas Shrugs

Oh ... and a little By The Way ... when those chickenshit Iraqi forces shit themselves and ran from battle, they left thousands of tons of arms behind. Brand new, supplied by the USA. From helmets to rifles to ammo to artillery to trucks to tanks. Enough to equip an army, for real. Now in the hands of AQ.

[ The New York Times, today ] The insurgent fighters who routed the Iraqi army out of Mosul on Tuesday did not just capture much of Iraq’s second-largest city. They also gained a windfall of arms, munitions and equipment abandoned by the soldiers as they fled — arms that were supplied by the United States and intended to give the troops an edge over the insurgents.

The problem is not a new one, but it looms larger now that the United States is shifting its counterterrorism strategy away from using American armed forces directly, and toward relying on allied or indigenous troops and security forces supplied and trained by the United States. President Obama proposed last week that a $5 billion fund be set up to finance such efforts.
...
But those proxy forces do not always prove equal to the task, and when they buckle, the United States finds itself having unwittingly armed its enemies — a problem the Obama administration has been trying to avoid in Syria by carefully limiting its aid to the opposition there. The militants who swept into control of Mosul on Tuesday are believed to be connected to the main Islamist militant group fighting in Syria.

Of course they are. What a wonderful coincidence for AQ that they’ve got their top 5 leaders back, to go along with a lifetime’s worth of new weapons, and who knows how much captured intel.

Rumor To News: Two Or Three Years

Today This Is News:

image

Afghan Taliban with modern US-made Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, 2012

Yet you’ve known about it for years. Pretty much. But it’s still a bit confusing.

The same missiles Hillary sent to arm the Libyan rebels. Probably not, but maybe some of those same 20,000/800/480 MANPADs that evaporated from Ghaddafi’s warehouses. And later turned up in Syria and elsewhere. A news story nearly dead on arrival. Don’t want to hear it, doesn’t fit the agenda, never happened, those were only vehicle mounted SA-24s and Russia says it never shipped them shoulder stocks, nothing to see here, bye bye.

Two years after the fact, it makes the newspapers. Because Qatar.

The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons.

Miliary records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile.

They thought they had a surefire kill. But instead of bursting into flames, the Chinook just disappeared into the darkness as the American pilot recovered control of the aircraft and brought it to the ground in a hard landing.

The assault team jumped out the open doors and ran clear in case it exploded. Less than 30 seconds later, the Taliban gunner and his comrade erupted into flames as an American gunship overhead locked onto their position and opened fire.

The next day, an explosive ordnance disposal team arrived to pick through the wreckage and found unexploded pieces of a missile casing that could only belong to a Stinger missile.

Lodged in the right nacelle, they found one fragment that contained an entire serial number.

The investigation took time. Arms were twisted, noses put out of joint. But when the results came back, they were stunning: The Stinger tracked back to a lot that had been signed out by the CIA recently, not during the anti-Soviet jihad.

They believe the Qataris delivered between 50 and 60 of those same Stingers to the Taliban in early 2012, and an additional 200 SA-24 Igla-S surface-to-air missiles.

Qatar now is expected to hold five Taliban commanders released from Guantanamo for a year before allowing them to go to Afghanistan.

But if we can’t trust the Qataris not to give our weapons to the Taliban, how can we trust them with this?

Yet ... somewhere down the memory hole ...

[9/27/2011] The White House announced today it planned to expand a program to secure and destroy Libya’s huge stockpile of dangerous surface-to-air missiles, following an ABC News report that large numbers of them continue to be stolen from unguarded military warehouses. ...
“Once these missiles walk away from these facilities, they’re very difficult to get back, as the CIA realized in Afghanistan,” said Bouckaert.

When the Afghan mujahideen were fighting the Soviets more than two decades ago, the CIA supplied the Afghans with 1,000 Stinger surface-to-air missiles, which had a devastating effect on Soviet military aircraft. After the Soviets had retreated, however, the CIA spent millions of dollars trying to buy back the remaining missiles from the Afghan fighters.

Hey, has anyone ever seen a progress report from this initiative? Just wondering ...

also ...

[9/07/2011] A potent stash of Russian-made surface-to-air missiles is missing from a huge Tripoli weapons warehouse amid reports of weapons looting across war-torn Libya.

They are Grinch SA-24 shoulder-launched missiles, also known as Igla-S missiles, the equivalent of U.S.-made Stinger missiles.

Riight. But these were the commie bottle rockets, not the ever lovin’ Red White and Blue version. So maybe that doesn’t matter here.

Fine. In which case ...

[Breitbart, 8/13/2103] In August 12, 2013 Joe DiGenova, attorney for one of the Benghazi whistleblowers, told Washington D.C.’s WMAL that one of the reasons people have remained tight-lipped about Benghazi is because 400 U.S. missiles were “diverted to Libya” and ended up being stolen and falling into “the hands of some very ugly people.”

DiGenova represents Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson. He told WMAL that he “does not know whether [the missiles] were at the annex, but it is clear the annex was somehow involved in the distribution of those missiles.”

Although many of us online had made the missile connection well before this article, which came out 11 months after Benghazi. Heck, even Rand Paul had figured that one out by February 2013. The rest of us just nodded our heads and thought “yup, Fast & Furious, the International Version”.

llowing then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s February 7 testimony on Capitol Hill about the Benghazi attacks, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) suggested that one of the causes behind the terrorist attack “may have been that there was a gun running operation going on in Benghazi, leaving Libya and going to Turkey and [distributing] arms to the [Syrian] rebels.”

image

Good boy Libyan rebel with Soviet SA-24 MANPAD. Looks similar, but not exactly like our Stinger MANPAD

So if the Tali’s new [as of 2012] Stingers are not from Mohmar’s Wonderful Weapons Warehouse, then from whence?  From the CIA, via Hillary Clinton. It’s all a bit confusing, but it seems that Gadhaffi’s warehouses had lots of old model Soviet SA-7s, plenty of new model SA-24s (although nobody really knows if they were only the truck mounted model or not) and possibly, perhaps, maybe, some Stingers. From 1980s Afghanistan maybe? Who knows. But when it was time to arm up the rebels, in that emergency little war we just had to get involved in, somehow the USA had to SEND the rebels new missiles, and they went there via the little flyspeck nation of Qattar. And sticky fingers managed to misplace a couple of pallets full. Which shortly ended up in Afghanistan, being used against our helicopter. Two months before Benghazi. Beats me why we couldn’t have just rowed a boat full to shore and handed them over directly, instead of going through how many hands and how many countries on a path that started in Qattar, 2100 miles away.

But now it’s a Big Deal, because now we’re supposed to trust Qattar to keep those 5 newly released AQ terrorists under control. Sure they will.

T.U.B.

Typical Uighur Behavior

Multiple Bomb Terrorist Attack In China Kills At Least 31

At least 31 people have died and 90 have been injured in an attack on an open-air market in the capital of Xinjiang province in western China Thursday, the latest in a series of violent incidents that the Chinese government has blamed on radical Muslim separatists.

China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency said that the assailants plowed through crowds of shoppers in off-road vehicles and threw explosives out the window before crashing head-on in the attack in the city of Urumqi. The agency said one of the vehicles then exploded and quotes an eyewitness as saying there were up to a dozen blasts in all.

“I heard four or five explosions. I was very scared. I saw three or four people lying on the ground,” Fang Shaoying, the owner of a small supermarket located near the scene of the blast, told the Associated Press.

The Xinjiang regional government said in a statement that the early morning attack was “a serious violent terrorist incident of a particularly vile nature.”

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack. Recent violence has been blamed on extremists seeking to overthrow Chinese rule in the region, which is home to the native Turkic-speaking Uighurs but has seen large inflows from China’s ethnic Han majority in recent decades.

The death toll was the highest for a violent incident in Xinjiang since dayslong riots in Urumqi in 2009 between Uighurs and Hans left almost 200 people dead. Thursday’s attack also was the bloodiest single act of violence in Xinjiang in recent history.

In Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the incident “lays bare again the anti-human, anti-social and anti-civilization nature of the violent terrorists and deserves the condemnation of the world community and the Chinese people.”

“The Chinese government is confident and capable of cracking down on violent terrorists. Their plots will never succeed,” Hong said.

Somebody Official Finally Said It

BAD MATH

image

The theory that the missing Malaysia Airlines jet was hijacked and diverted—possibly to Indonesia—to be used as a “weapon” in a future attack gained traction Monday from the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, told Fox News that the two most plausible scenarios at this stage are that Flight 370 ran out of fuel and crashed into the Indian Ocean, or that the plane has already landed “somewhere in southeast Asia” as part of a terror plot.

“It could have landed somewhere, filled with explosives and then sent somewhere else to cause some great damage, and I think we have to look at all possibilities right now,” McCaul told Fox News.

Next step will be for Captain Obvious to do the math ... without passengers, the payload of this airplane is about 47,000 kilograms. That’s 47 kilotons METRIC tons, m’kay? 103,000 lbs. And then 45,200 gallons of fuel.

1 X  image

= ( 52 X  image + 9 X  image )

Put bluntly, this airliner can carry cargo mass roughly equal to twice the bomb load of a B-52. And 9 tanker trucks full of diesel fuel on top of that. Yeah, let’s let the media put “weapon” in quotes. Because that’s there just to scare people.

There ya go. Not like you need to read the stories or even follow the links. And that radar stuff all the talking heads are going on about? ...

... while they tell you that the military radar at that targeted point is in geosynchronous orbit at 35,800km altitude, it turns out that that exact point in the middle of the Indian Ocean is Diego Garcia. The bat cave. The remote island air base in the middle of salt water nowhere. The place we keep all the B-52s and stealth bombers and stuff. Purest coincidence, I’m sure. Or, maybe not.

All of which feeds my other thesis, my secret hope that those in charge (smarter, better, sneakier people than I) have been aware of where this plane went from the time it was going there, and all this other crap is simply kabuki theater for the sheeple to consume.  Which begs the question, is the Malaysian PM, with all his foot dragging, obfuscation, and denials, one of us or one of them?  And the other question going begging: What is Obama going to do? (with or without China or Malaysia alongside).

I’ve kept silent until now

My Very Own Conspiracy Theory ... shared by thousands of others I’m sure

But I have been watching the developing situation all week long with   Oceanic Air Flight 815   Malaysian Air Flight MH370. Everybody has a thesis; here is mine.

I’m very saddened to say that it now looks like my immediate reaction was right: Al Qaeda did it.

It was an inside job, but not really as complicated as you might think. The airplane took off from a strongly Islamic area, one with their own local crop of violent jihadis. Who had publicly stated they wanted to steal a jetliner.

One of those active Indonesian splinter groups, Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid, is led by radical cleric Abu Bakar Baasyir, the longtime spiritual head of Jemaah Islamiyah.
...
Jemaah Islamiyah was working with Osama bin-Laden to launch a coordinated strike on 9/11/01 that would hijack and crash planes at the same time as the attacks on the U.S. The Gitmo document says bin Laden found this too difficult to synchronize so he dropped the southeast Asian part of the plan; operatives involved had been mapping out locations of U.S. carriers in the area and staying in Kuala Lumpur during parts of the plotting.

As far back as 1995, Hambali planned to bomb 11 U.S. airliners in southeast Asia. He also explored biological weapons programs and met with current al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri about bioweapons in Kandahar in 2001.

In 2006, Zawahiri released a video announcing that Jemaah Islamiyah and al-Qaeda were, from that point forward, “one line” as strategic and ideological partners facing a mutual enemy.

So, not just local terrorists, but local terrorists directly connected to AQ and OBL, who were actually extras for 9/11. Wonderful.

I’ve watched as the news media has gone on for days, for a solid week now, about the missing airliner, from upset passengers, to prayer vigils, to searches at sea, widening search patterns, false hopes shattered over some low res satellite data about some flotsam in the South China Sea ... all that hopey hope stuff, which is all good. But from the very first day the other story has also been out there, the one that said a large plane was spotted on military radar over far western Malaysia, Pulau Perak island ... and tracked heading westward. Oh no, couldn’t possibly be that. No, not even when the locals there reported a giant airplane flying by at low altitude. All sorts of talking heads on the far side of the world cast doubts on that story. Couldn’t be, let’s go search along the planned flightpath some more.

And then odd little bits of information started to slip out.

* That this long range jet seemed to have enough fuel on board to fly for another 2500 miles. No, for 4 hours. 5. 5 1/2. 7 1/2. All the way to Pakistan. Or Mongolia. Or maybe Somalia. Or Paris?? Granted, this airliner has crazy long range, being capable of flying more than halfway around the planet on a full load of jet fuel. In fact, it’s range is so insanely long, that the flight they sent it on, Malaysia to Beijing, seems almost like a short hop. But while any of us can run out to Wiki, run a calculator, or even plot global distances from a given point, there did seem to be a whole lot of confusion over just how much fuel was on the plane ... without anyone in the media ever saying that directly. Oh no, we just got a series of changing estimates, as this one or that one guessed how far Flight 370 could have gone. Wanna really know? With full tanks, Flight 370 could have landed at O’hare airport in Chicago IL. That’s the real range of this thing.

* Passenger cell phones somehow remained on, but unanswered, for hours after the plane “vanished” at the hand off point between Malaysian and Vietnamese air controller space. Go figure.

* The airliner seemed to vanish just when it crossed the hand off point too. Golly, what a coincidence.

* Hidden transponders on the Rolls Royce engines reported back (or tried to) to England (or a comsat) for at least 5, maybe 7 hours after that magical disappearing act.

* A series of known sensor transponders seem to have all be shut down, manually, within a 15 minute period.  Like they were following protocol and working their way down a To Do list.

And as time went by, the Look To The East plan wore out, as more and more signs pointed to Into The Sunset. As of last night, we now have a little zig-zag in that military radar track that was poo-pooed last week; now that little jiggle is almost being interpreted as a “fight for control” between the real pilots and some would be saboteurs or hijackers.

Oh wait, before that the daily theory was saboteurs. Not hijackers. Couldn’t be hijackers, since nobody had come forward with a ransom demand at that point. So if this wasn’t an accident, then it had to be some mad bomber or something, who brought the plane down.

A couple days later and the saboteur story has morphed into hijackers. An act of air piracy. But still a battle between the real air crew and some outside hostile forces bent on takeover. Even the Malaysian PM is going with the hijacker thesis at this point. Well, at least that it was a “deliberate act”.

And now, finally, the world is getting around to asking what I asked the moment I heard the plane was flying. Because my wife and I were on vacation and flew back to NY area airports the night Egypt Air Flight 800 did an “ackbar” straight into the ocean. And guess what? Duh. No guessing. You already know the answer.

The pilot of Flight 370 was Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah. The co-pilot was 1st Officer Fariq Ab Hamid.

Both were very well trained and had years and years of flying experience. Real pros. But perhaps both vulnerable to the leverages of jihad? Because, gosh, right now these two and the rest of the flight crew are under intense scrutiny.

As of this morning, what “we” “know” is
1. Malaysia has confirmed reports that the diversion of MH370 was a deliberate act.

2. Last signal from MH370 was five hours later than previously thought.

3. The families of those on board have raised their hopes that the plane might have landed somewhere

4. The missing aircraft could be as far north as Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan or as far south as the southern Indian Ocean.

5. China has expressed its anger that Malaysia has only today provided substantive information

Oh, and now folks are looking at an East to West flight path, from Mongolia (North of China) westward to Turkmenistan (near Crimea). Go figure. Never would have guessed you could cross China or North Korea with a massive jet plane and get away with it.

Investigators trying to solve the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jetliner have sharpened their focus on passengers and crew after concluding that the Boeing 777 had its communications deliberately disabled and was airborne for hours after it vanished, Malaysia’s leader said Saturday.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said at a press conference that investigators now know that the airliner’s communications devices were deliberately disabled and that its last signal came about 7 1/2 hours after takeoff, meaning it could have ended up as far as Kazakhstan or deep in the southern Indian Ocean.

“In view of this latest development, the Malaysian authorities have refocused their investigation into the crew and passengers on board,” Najib said, stressing they were still investigating all possibilities as to why the plane deviated so drastically from its original flight path.

“Clearly the search for (Flight) MH370 has entered a new phase,” Najib told a televised news conference.

Najib also said that authorities are now trying to trace the airplane across two possible “corridors”—a northern corridor from the border of Kazakstan and Turkmenistan through to northern Thailand, and a southern corridor from Indonesia to the southern Indian Ocean.

I guess it will still be some time before they get around to being allowed to mention out loud what was instantly obvious to me. But is media feeding us the real meal even now? Go look up this airplane at Wiki. It flies along at 490 knots (560mph, 905kph). Do that for 7.5 hours, and you’ve gone 3675 nm / 4200 ground miles / 6787 km. Now go find one of those GPS mapper sites, and draw that radius from NW Malaysia ...

image

... and then realize that on full tanks, the thing could fly for another 8 hours. So maybe it took this long to get those other transponders to shut down. In other words, the plane could be anywhere. Or it could have landed on some well built bit of straight highway in Yemen, or Somalia, or even at any major airport in Iran. And quickly put under wraps, or in a hanger, before the sun came up or the next spysat went over.

So the forces of evil now have the greatest stealth cruise missile the world has ever known. Change the transponders, repaint the plane (I’d paint it up in El Al colors, just because), and the only places on earth you can’t fly to directly from Tehran are Argentina and Tasmania. With a suitcase nuke on board ... or any nuke for that matter, no matter how big and clunky ... you know, the one that the Bush administration said wasn’t being built. The same one the mad mullahs made so many agreements with Obonga to stop working on, that they weren’t working on ... and slip the jet into the regular flight paths anywhere on the planet. Oh plus 150,000 pounds or so of regular explosives. 5 MOABs worth. Whatever. It’s just cargo at that point, but every effective half kiloton counts, right?

So it’s a total game changer. We built the greatest airliner ever in the entire history of wings. So they turned it into a weapon they can use against us. Anywhere, any time. And there pretty much isn’t a damn thing we can do about it, besides being ready to shoot down any and every airplane that is about to enter national airspace. Not that we’ll need to worry this time. The first flight will come in over the mountains onto Tel Aviv, after flying across Jordan at nearly ground level. Flash. Mushroom cloud. When the second long range jumbo jet vanishes into thin air, then WE need to worry. And there won’t be an Allah-be-damned thing we can do about it.

Suicide Bomb Instructor Accidentally Kills Iraqi Pupils

BAGHDAD — A group of Sunni militants attending a suicide bombing training class at a camp north of Baghdad were killed on Monday when their commander unwittingly conducted a demonstration with a belt that was packed with explosives, army and police officials said.

The militants belonged to a group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, which is fighting the Shiite-dominated army of the Iraqi government, mostly in Anbar Province. But they are also linked to bomb attacks elsewhere and other fighting that has thrown Iraq deeper into sectarian violence.

Twenty-two ISIS members were killed, and 15 were wounded, in the explosion at the camp, which is in a farming area in the northeastern province of Samara, according to the police and army officials. Stores of other explosive devices and heavy weapons were also kept there, the officials said.

Eight militants were arrested when they tried to escape, the officials said.

The militant who was conducting the training was not identified by name, but he was described by an Iraqi Army officer as a prolific recruiter who was “able to kill the bad guys for once.”

ISIS militants drove into Falluja and the nearby city of Ramadi, both in Anbar Province, earlier this year with heavy weaponry, taking control of key intersections and offices of local authorities.

“Militants” my ass. Terrorists. Blow ‘em all to hell and back.

“Now class, always remember, never touch the red button until it is time to meet Allah”.
“Which button was that, ohmost exalted teacher?”
“The red one Achmed. For the 5th time, the red one. There is only 1 button, and it is red. This is the button you do not touch!”
How should we not touch it, oh mighty sheik of learning?”
“What? Simple you misbegot fool. You don’t touch it like this!”

Blam. Guess they all learned that lesson just fine.

aww crap ... I just realized Christopher posted the same story. Hey, it’s worth repeating; we don’t get good news like this every day!

I posted this a few years ago, it was funny then and even funnier now.  Hmmm. So prayers really do work?

And There Was Much Rejoicing!

Good news today, my fellow BMEWSd, several wannabe suicide bombers successfully completed their suicide bomber training!

No, Really?

Iraq: All that was won is now lost, or soon will be.

When the last U.S. combat troops departed Iraq in December 2011, they left behind a defeated al-Qaeda and an Iraq where traditional rivals Sunni and Shiite Muslims were sharing power in the world’s only Arab democracy.

Two years later, al-Qaeda has seized major cities where hundreds of U.S. troops died while fighting alongside their Iraqi brethren. The population once freed by the U.S.-Iraqi alliance has now watched those same jihadist insurgents return to command the streets and impose their will.

Indeed, Iraqis are threatened again by civil war over charges of treason and resistance to an authoritarian government. Many significant gains of the 8-year-long Iraq war in which more than 4,400 Americans died have been lost or are now threatened unless swift actions evict the insurgents.

“I fear it’s only the beginning and much worse will evolve,” says Fred Kagan, a military historian and former adviser to President George W. Bush and U.S. military commander David Petraeus. “And I believe it was avoidable.”

Dear Dickheads In DC:

Next time, just drop the bomb. We Teh People frankly don’t give a shit if a bunch of flea bitten wogs and sand niggers gets glow in the dark nuts before their faces slough off. They’d do it to us, first chance they got, and party like it was 1999 the whole time.

You can use bio weapons and poison gas too if you want. WTF. I’m sure by now your billion dollar dingbats have developed special formulas that only work on muslims, or only stay viable for 4 hours or so? I mean come on, you’ve been at this shit since 1948, and we all know damn well the R&D still continues out on Plum Island. And in a few other locked away secret places.

What, you don’t want to use nukes or bio? Fine. Then start up the MOAB production line, and start teaching those flyboys how to drop things while flying in large formations. We don’t need another $4 billion aircraft carrier or any of that solid platinum jerk-off crap you love to waste money on. What we need is hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of great big simple airplanes that can carry one bomb the size of a standard freight shipping container, carry it a long way at a high altitude, drop it, and fly home. Actually, a shipping container is much bigger than a MOAB, so you could easily turn them into MOAB IIs but just welding on some fins and a pointy nose. Or fit 4 MOABS in a standard container and drop them in even bigger bunches. Come to think of it, nearly any standard wide body passenger jet from Boeing is more than big enough to fit, lift, and carry half a dozen or more of these. Tear out the seats and cut a hole in the back. Fuck, give Boeing a week to CAD up a simple body that only holds bombs and uses the same engines, wings, and avionics. Toss in some basic jamming gear, stap on a dozen Sparrows, and you’re good to go. No bet at all that the smaller bodied bomber version would go faster and higher and even cost less. They could be rolling off the assembly lines by May at the latest.

Because it isn’t worth it to fight wars that cost American lives, if in a couple years the national leadership lets the wins turn into losses and the cost of victory gets flushed down the toilet between rounds of golf.

Fuck that. Bomb them all dead. DEAD. And we do not give an amoeba’s fart about “colateral damage” because there ain’t none over there in sandland. None, not from Turkey to Somalia and Mali, or from Marrakesh to Lahore. Bomb them all dead when the need arises, then come home.

Since you’re not in this to win, we don’t want to play. But we do want MASSIVE, MASSIVE revenge, and we want it all the friggin’ time. Thus, bombs. Lots. Big. Huge. 1200 at a time. Foom. War over. Nitey nite!

And not another dead soldier for your lying, back stabbing, feckless, treasonous foreign policies.

Never again.

Obama had put Vice President Biden in charge of overseeing many Iraqi affairs when he entered office in 2009, but a U.S. commitment to use diplomatic and aid programs to maintain comity between the government factions was never carried out, Hamid says.

JJOAPS. President Dickless can’t even man up and take responsibility for a god damn war. No, give this one to “plugs” Biden ... because it isn’t really “a big fucking deal” is it Joe? And then when (as expected and probably instructed) he gets jack-shit done, you’ve got somebody to throw under the bus. You cunt.

Like I said.

Never again.

You Worthless SOB

Can’t blame Bush for this. Not one single bit. This is ALL Obama’s fault. Him, his failed policies, his naive Secretaries of State, his absurd Middle East stance, his anti-military stance, and his continued purge of the upper echelons of the branches of the military.  It’s all coming together, and what we’re now seeing in Fallujah and other parts of that rebuilt country is no accident. Expect similar results around the globe ... because, hey, at this point, what difference does it make?

Americans Who Fought in Fallujah Watch al Qaeda Make Comeback

So you have any idea how sickening this is to write?

Our President, the “Leader of the Free World”, allowed this to happen. If it isn’t his idea, his deliberate doing, then it’s at least his fault. Because he knew, and did nothing. The worthless shitmouth.

Inside the ancient city, just 43 miles from Baghdad, Iraqis are once again braced for a siege and say security has declined precipitously over the past year. On Thursday, Iraqi interior ministry officials declared that half of the city was occupied by a brutal wing of al Qaeda called the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

What little peace this city has seen in the past decade came at the expense of dozens of American Marines who fought al Qaeda-backed insurgents in two battles in 2004. They finally eliminated the al Qaeda forces in a house by house, alleyway by alleyway battle in which Marines had to contend with booby traps, roadside bombs and insurgents who fought with near suicidal determination.

“No one expected the level of ferocity we encountered in Fallujah,” said Maj. Charleston Malkemus, a member of the Marines’ First Batallion, the first division deployed to the city. “Insurgents and al Qaeda fighters flocked to the city and inserted themselves to take control, similar to what’s going on now.”

The second battle of Fallujah fought in the final months of 2004 was the greatest urban military operation involving U.S. troops since the battle for Hue City, Vietnam, in 1968.

By one estimate 36,000 of the city’s 50,000 homes in Fallujah were laid to waste. More than 2,000 insurgents are believed to have been killed in the fighting, as were nearly 100 American troops.

Al Qaeda was routed from the city, but they have returned in force according to officials, leaving some Americans to wonder whether too many died in vain.

“It was all for naught,” said Ross Ducati, a former Marine who fought in the second battle for the city and has since become an outspoken critic of U.S. intervention in Iraq. “Americans fought and died there—my friends died there—for the purposes of regime change and furthering business interests friendly to the Bush administration… [Now] Iraqis will die there to further the interests of [Prime Minister Nouri] al-Maliki’s government.”

I understand brother, and I really wish there was a higher purpose involved. It’s all pretty sickening.

The security situation in Iraq has deteriorated in the past year. According to the U.N., 7,818 people were killed in 2013, the highest number in years.

Much of the recent sectarian violence has taken place in Anbar province, where Fallujah is located. Prime Minister Maliki’s Shiite-controlled government has tried to contain the violence in the province, a majority Sunni region.

Against the backdrop of al Qaeda backed militias launching attacks on police statements and military bases, the government has also cracked down on peaceful Sunni protests and sit-ins and dismantled Sunni militias, including those unaffiliated with al Qaeda.

Right. The locals form militias because a) they feel their local safety is not ensured by the government, and b) their safety is not ensured by the government along tribal lines, and like the shithole that is Africa, the Near East will never get past tribalism and thus is damned to petty tyranny forever.

Yet somehow the wonderful, multi-partisan, democratic government that the USA installed there, and that the little mud people went out and purple fingered for, isn’t doing the job. Maybe it isn’t so representative after all. Or maybe, just like we said in 2006 or so, Iraq ( just like every other country in the Middle East, post Balfour, shouldn’t be forced to exist within the lines drawn by disinterested white guys on a map somewhere. The sandbox is primitive and tribal, and always will be. The people are primitive and tribal, and always will be. Barbaric too. So no real point wasting endless blood and treasure trying to force them into a 21st century mold; given the first time in forever opportunity to write up their own constitution a few years back, they insisted on putting shit in there straight out of the fuckwad quran. So not even the best of them can see past the 7th century. I’m sorry for the American lives lost there. I’m sorry for the dickless traitor’s pretend leadership that got us to this point.

Now, since we’ll never, ever, have the balls to nuke the fuck out of this urban asshole, can we at least lay a hexagonal star of MOABS down on it? Won’t be a helluva difference either way;

   *   *
*   *   *    =    “M*”
   *   *
1/2 mile diameter circle of destruction

  M*  M*
M*  M*  M*
  M*  M*
>= 1 1/2 mile diameter circle of destruction; equal to an atomic bomb but without any radiation

Maybe a star or 2 of them. We sort of saved the city once, then we rescued it at great cost. And now, years later, it’s fallen once more to the enemy. Probably because that’s what the locals really want.
So fry them. To ashes. Because we still owe the fuckers for that bridge. So Fallujah Delenda Est. Again. Fuck it, we tried. Twice.

And if we can’t save it, then let’s turn it into dust before giving it over to Al Qaida. WTF, they’d do the same for us if they could.

Kill them all. Every last one. Squashed into tomato soup by overpressure and then roasted to a jerky-like crisp. And every building turned to small pieces of rubble. Sodom, Gommorah, Fallujah. Redefining “smote” for the 21st century.

Wait. Any of that would only happen if we had a leader at the helm. A MAN in charge.

Sorry.  We’ve only got bawak “Is it time for another vacation yet?” Obongo at the helm.

Never mind.

14 taken to hospitals after Minneapolis fire

MINNEAPOLIS — A billowing fire engulfed a three-story building with several apartments near downtown Minneapolis early Wednesday, sending more than a dozen people to hospitals with injuries — some critical — ranging from burns to trauma associated with falls.

An explosion was reported about 8:15 a.m., and within minutes a fire raged through the building, said Robert Ball, a spokesman for Hennepin County Emergency Medical Services. Paramedics, amid sub-zero temperatures, responded to find victims on the ground, some with injuries that suggested they may have fallen multiple stories.

A mosque that is next door to the gutted building appeared to escape any obvious structural damage. Abdisalam Adam, the imam at Islamic Civic Society of America & Masjid Dar Al-Hijrah, watched the firefighting efforts and said he was praying for those affected by the fire.

“It’s devastating and very sad,” he said.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said it was monitoring the fire in case the mosque was targeted, said MN-CAIR board member Zuhar Ahmed.

In the subzero stillness of New Year’s Day morning, an explosion and fire tore through a century-old building in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, injuring at least 14 people — six critically — and destroying an immigrant-owned grocery store and the 10 apartments above it.

Family members and friends reported that three or four others known to have lived in the apartments have not been located and are feared dead.

...

The building housed the Otonga grocery store. The apartments above it were apparently all occupied by single men, most of them East African immigrants, a resident said.

It may be quite a while before we find out the cause of the fire, if indeed we ever do. Therefore the rest of this post is pure speculation. The entire incident smells fishy…

A big explosion occurs next door to a mosque that has an unabashed affection for the Muslim Brotherhood, in a Somali neighborhood where terrorists are known to hang out — what could possibly be amiss with that?

Nothing, except possibly an Islamophobic hate crime, according to CAIR ...

...

The earliest photos show an intense and rapidly-spreading fire that looks like it originated on the second floor, immediately above the grocery. This would be consistent with the unexpected detonation of an explosive substance — say, ammonium nitrate, just to pick a random example — which then distributed very flammable material within an enclosed space, creating a flash-fire.

Were the three missing occupants would-be mujahideen who experienced a premature… ahem… detonation?

This section of Minneapolis is known as “little Mogadishu” because of the large Somali population.

The building where the explosion took place had a Halal market on the first floor and a mosque that teaches sharia law next-door. According to Star-Tribnue, “the apartments are all occupied by single men.”
...
Tonight, suicide bombers killed at least 11 in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. The group behind the attack is Al-Shabaab, an al Qaeda cell.  They were responsible for last years Westgate mall attack in Kenya.

Because the cause of this morning’s explosion Minneapolis is not yet known so it is pure conjecture to say that there is a connection between the explosion in the terror event half a world away.. However, there is a clear connection between Minnesota and the group behind the Mogadishu car bombings.

Three Minnesota man who went to Somalia to martyr themselves for Al Qaeda were featured in a recruitment film last year.

We’ve seen hundreds of cases of premature detonation (alla ack-oops!) over the past decade. Nearly everywhere the jihadis build their little bombs, some Imadumbjihad manages to set one off by accident. And there is a KNOWN terrorist connection in this neighborhood.

But don’t expect anything from the feds. Hell, these people here are Somalis ... Africans ... Eric Holder’s “people”. They can’t be terrorists! Not allowed!! There are no terrorists in or from Africa! No jihadis, none!! Never!

Nothing to see here, move along. Because, racist!!!!
